I shall try to answer this question based on my own experiences. I, myself find the syllabus of Social Studies more vast than any other subjects in the CBSE 10th curriculum, thanks to it being broken down into 5 different individual subjects and textbooks- History, Geography, Political Science, Economics and Disaster Management. But somehow I ended up scoring 78 out of 80 in the theory paper. I shall break it down to the individual approach I had for all these 5 subjects.

1.History- Let's start with the subject which gives nightmares to people who find Social Studies vast. The best approach to prepare History for Board examinations is reading the Nationalism, Unification and Industrialization part like a story. If you read it carefully, you will actually find it pretty interesting due to a number of turn of events that shaped the world as it is. This will help you know and memorize the events and their timeline at the back of your head. Then for chapters like Print, Culture you can keep a note of important dates and names of important places and people. Once you are done with the whole syllabus, a question-centric approach by practicing questions from sample papers available online and offered by various publication houses will let you know the kinds of questions asked and make you better suited to answer the long article-like answers to questions in the board examinations.

2.Geography - The best way to aim for the perfect score in Geography is maintaining tables and making notes of almost everything. From the mines of each and every mineral ores and where they are found to the different kinds of industries and where they are situated. Another very useful approach of memorizing is ‘marking the map’ technique. Buy blank maps (both India and World) and use pencils to mark the locations in the maps. Initially you will have to take help from the text book but after a little practice, you will be able to do it all by yourself. Once you are able to do it on your own, you can pretty much understand that you are on the right course.

3.Political Science- This section is comparatively easier than the above two. Much can be known by discussing about the political parties and the political scenario in India with your parents/grandparents or elder siblings. Again a question-centric approach will help you prepare for it better and I do not think you will find a lot of difficulties in this section.

4.Economics - This is one of the most interesting parts of the whole SST syllabus. The NCERT textbook has used interesting stories that will help you better relate to the very concepts of economics. Use a logical perspective to understand it and you will find it really interesting and easy as it is a pretty logical subject (probably Economics is the reason why we call this subject Social ‘Science’ also).

Disaster Management - This is like a cherry on top of the cake. This is the easiest and the least time consuming section of the Social Studies part. Just one time thorough reading of the textbook (which is hardly 30–40 pages) will suffice.

The above mentioned approach, I think, is enough for you to even score a perfect 80 out of 80 if you do it with interest.

Best of luck!
