Rabbit digestive system:-
Rabbits are herbivorous and feed on plants. They have complex and unique digestive system which allows the break down of indigestible plant (or their parts).
Parts Of The Rabbit Digestive System:-
1-Mouth
→Like humans and other living beings, digestion of rabbit starts in mouth. The saliva in their mouth helps to moisten and lubricate food to allow easy movement through the gastrointestinal tract.
2-Esophagus and Stomach
→Esophagus is kind of link b/w rabbit's mouth and stomach. It allows the chewed food to pass down to stomach where further digestion process takes place.
→Again, like humans, rabbit's stomach also have enzymes and acids secretion in their stomach. The main secretions of the rabbit stomach are mucus, pepsin, and hydrochloric acid.
→Mucus helps to protect the inner lining of stomach from acid's action
→Acids and other enzymes help in the breaking down of complex nutrients present in food.
3-Small Intestine
→Rabbit's small intestine consist of three sections namely – the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.
→In duodenum, the acidic food (digested food) starts neutralising by enzymes secreted by pancreas.
→Jejunum is mid-section of the small intestine which absorbs glucose, amino and fatty acids.
→Ileum is the last section of the small intestine, where the remaining nutrients and B vitamins are absorbed.

How to maintain diet?
⇒A rabbit’s diet should contain high fiber in order to provide proper dental health.Usually, rabbits are fond of eating hay, so we should provide them high quality and high fiber hay which is for rabbit’s teeth and digestion. It also helps keep him from becoming obese. We should give them various kind of nutritious veggies like cilantro, parsley, spinach, carrot tops, basil, romaine and red leaf lettuce. Rabbits drink about 10 percent of their body weight in water daily so we should give them fresh and clean water so that they could not come in contact with any disease.
