White cloth would be the most sufficient colour to use as you can paint it. And as for a decorative item.. you could try inflating a balloon, covering it with glue and wrapping the cloth all around it besides the area where you inflate the balloon. Let the cloth properly paste and take the form of the balloon then pop the balloon from the area where you did not wrap the cloth. The resulting item of cloth you received could be used as an flower pot or a light cover
