Solid particles are tightly packed and have nearly no intermolecular spaces. So place the thermocol balls too close to each other representing solid particles.

Liquid particles are slightly loosely packed and have small intermolecular spaces. So place the thermocol balls nearly close to each other representing the liquid particles.

Gas particles are very loosely packed and have large intermolecular spaces. So place thermocol balls with large distance between each other to represent the gas particles.
