how to make an electromagnet model

One of the simple electromagnetic model is -------> Take an iron nail and cover it with a copper wire, while covering, leave the wires from both north and south ends, then connect those two left wires with the two terminals of a battery, i.e. one with +ve terminal and one with -ve terminal. Now put some metallic objects like some all pins near the nail covered with copper wire and whenever you'll connect the wires with a battery the all pins will be attracted to nail and will stick the nail.............................................
