In order to create an app, the preliminary knowledge you need to have is that of code. You also need to have a good sense of graphic design and UI framework that is user touch friendly. If you're developing for iOS, you would benefit from a knowledge of theirs native IDE, that's Xcode. An android app would use lesser prep time as the apps hosted on the Play Store are adaptive to all code language and can be uploaded for free. On iOS however you need to be a part of the Apple Developer Program, which is available in India at 7000 bucks per year.
