if we connect the 2ohm and 6 ohm in parallel and 3 ohm in series we would get the desired results

1/2+1/6=1/R1

R1=1.5

Reff=R1+3

=4.5

Jinnie444: thank you so much ... appreciate it

Answer:

By putting the resistors in combination of series and parallel connection.

Explanation:

Here

1/ Rp= 1/6 +1/2

= 1+3/6

= 4/6

Rp=6/4=1.5 ohm

Equivalent resistance = Rs+Rp= 3+ 1.5= 4.5 ohm

Jinnie444: hey... could you please tell me how you got 1/6+1/2 .... as 3/6??
