Answer: To minimize sex ratio

first we have to know what is sex ratio

sex ratio = no. of females / 1000 males

Explanation:

Today the sex ratio is not balanced bexause male births exceeds female births in almost all societies due to biological reasons.

In underdeveloped countries the sex ratio is often unfavourable to females.

There are more women than men in Brazil according the CIA World Factbook 2020 data (most recent data available). The Brazil Gender Ratio is 97 men to 100 women (97:100) or 0.97. Brazil's gender ratio is lower than the global average of 101 men to 100 women (101:100) or 1.01.

This is due to high female mortality.

In many parts of the world, males migrate in search of work and this also disturbs sex ratio.

Thus in Kerala also, the female births exceed the male as males migrate in search of employment as you have seen

There are two causes of high male-to-female sex ratios: prenatal selection and postnatal selection. The former manifests as a high sex ratio at birth (SRB) and is caused by sex-selective abortion. The latter manifests as excess female mortality, especially in childhood, when girls are especially vulnerable to unequal distribution of resources in the household. Both types of selection are fundamentally the result of son preference.
