Obtaining 2-methylpropene from 2-methylpropanol:
The alcoholic KOH gives ions. These ions are stronger base than the ions. Ethoxide ions being stronger they abstract the beta hydrogen of the alkyl halide and form the alkenes.
"2-methyl propanol is treated with the sulfuric acid and heated and then treated with the hydrogen gas which results in the production of 2-methylpropene. as shown in the diagram .
