STEPS OF CONSTRUCTION:
1) First draw a line AB of the units of length given to you i.e. The number.(don't put under root in this step)
2) extend this line to point C by 1 unit . (Extend the line further till some extent.)
3) Now draw a perpendicular bisector of AC.
4) Let the point where the perpendicular bisects AC be O.
5) With O as centre and radius OA draw a semi-circle from A to C.
6) At point B , draw a perpendicular (using protector) joining the above made semi-circle at point D.
7) With B as centre and radius BD, mark an arc on the extended line (of point 2) . Mark the point E where the arc cuts that line.
8) The distance BE will give you your answer i.e. The under root number is plotted.
