To prepare 1:10 bleach solution add one volume of household bleach (e.g. 1 litre) to nine volumes of clean water (e.g. 9 litres). To prepare 1:100 bleach solution add one volume of 1:10 bleach solution (e.g. 1 litre) to nine volumes of clean water (e.g. 9 litres).
To prepare 1 percent sodium hypochlorite solution.

Sodium hypochlorite called as bleach and is used as a disinfecting agent.
It is used to kill the viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mycobacterium.
Material required;
- The amount of sodium Chloride- 10% = 1000ml
- Water
To make; 1% sodium hypochlorite
Solution;
1000 ÷10× 1% =100 ml
So, the concentration of the sodium hypochlorite is 100 ml.
To find out the amount of water;
(sodium chloride- concentration of sodium hypochlorite) = amount of water
1000-100=900
The total amount of water is 900 ml.
Hence, to make 1% of sodium hypochlorite we need 900ml of water and 100 ml of sodium hypochlorite.
