1. When ketone undergoes reduction 2°-alcohol is formed.
e.g., (CH3)2CO------ >(CH3)2CHOH
(acetone). 2°-alcohol(2-propanol)
2.when aldehyde undergoes reduction or treated with hydrogen 1°-alcohol is formed.
e.g.,CH3CHO------------------->CH3CH2OH
(Acetaldehyde). (1°-alcohol)(Ethanol)
e.g., (CH3)2CO------ >(CH3)2CHOH
(acetone). 2°-alcohol(2-propanol)
2.when aldehyde undergoes reduction or treated with hydrogen 1°-alcohol is formed.
