See English is a kind of subject every one should loved it. Secondly as it is ur first day in the school as a English teacher. I think u should first let the students know more about English so that they can have interest in ur subject. Third u should make everyone comfortable in ur class organise some sot of activity for them. Ask them some questions related to English give them some knowledge about the subject.

I would firstly advise to be friendly with the students... try not to create any kind of rough and tough attitude within u... but again dont be so friendly that the classroom turns into a fish market... there should be a perfect blend of friendliness and personality... u should not loose ur weight by trying to be more friendly... for example u should not crack jokes with the students but there should be sense of humour during the learning process... remember ur first impression is the last impression... all the best... hope my suggestions work well...
u can also have some creative activities like debates, speech, and others so that students take interest in it rather than jst bookish things
