Sodium hydrogen carbonate is produced on a large scale by reacting a cold and concentrated solution of brine with ammonia and carbon-dioxide.

NaCl + NH3 + H2O + CO2 ----> NaHCO3 + NH4Cl

Here product NaHCO3 is sodium hydrogen carbonate.
