how to prepare sodium hydroxide from sodium chloride and why this process is called chlor-alkali process

if we could process of Chlorine in hydrogen
it gives HCL

so when we could process of Sodium chloride in water
it gives NAOH sodium hydroxide
and
HCL hydro caloric acid

the process is a preparation of a base(NaOH) using chlorine from sodium chloride..so the name is chlor-alkali..
and for the reaction
use any basic compound like CaOH or MgOHwith Nacl there will be a displacement reaction and u will get the sodium hydroxide..
