the best way to protect your system from any kind of virus or Trojan horse try to not to use Microsoft os try to Linux OS which is completely safe because it doesn't need internet connection.
And use good quality of anti-viruses i.e. quick heal(paid) or Avira(absolutely free).
And do not insert drives directly without scanning it.
