as we know that the side opposite to the greatest angle is greatest .
So in a right. angled triangle the greatest angle is 90 degree , so hypotenuse being the opposite side is the largest

using Pythagoras theorem hypotenuse = square root of adjacent square +opposite square((AB)=√Bc square +AC square)
