How to read the symbol triangle used in economics formula?

Nothing wrong with the previous 5 answers. However, the question does not state the orientation of the triangle and so it could be an inverted triangle with one point vertically downwards. This, then would represent nabla, which in mathematics denotes the vectorial operator yielding the first differential of the vector. Nabla squared yields the second differential of the vector
