Have you ever watched 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'?

If you did, then probably, for some reason you would say that total memory function could be hacked and isolate a specific memory and erase it.

But, no. That movie only proves how powerful our brain is. Even if we have experienced deep emotional trauma or cognitive recalibration, it's not just probable. Even if you submerge yourself in a deep trance with a great hypnotist the memory is still there, only supressed. And, memories are tricky. Just a hint of small sensation could re-trigger it and re-surface the memories to consciousness.

But, some tasks could help you, at least for the meantime, forget a specific person. But, that's just running away from the fact you cannot forget someone.

2)........Overthinking combined with negative thinking essentially is a catastrophic prediction of the future. And once this becomes a habit it is a terrible way to live.

I've found that actively categorising my thoughts into fact or fictional is a useful technique. When we think negatively, we have a tendency to believe a fictional inner dialogue.

When we spend too much time in the negative. It can be can habit and very difficult to break. Negative thoughts only encourage hopelessness, low motivation and self-esteem. When you rehearse negative thoughts over and over, they grow even more powerful. It's almost like your reinforcing them.

Because negative thinking distorts our perception of the world stresses seem bigger, and more difficult to overcome. And If you’re vulnerable to depression, you could end up seriously depressed.

In the book as a man thinkth by james Allen he uses the analogy of the mind being like a garden. If you want to plant seeds of positivity, resiliency, resourcefulness, self confidence then you need a fertile mind. One that encourages growth and nurtures change. Similar to garden in then sense that you have to first break up the hard crust of soil making it fertile!

Without breaking up the hard crust the seeds of positivity resourcefulness, resiliency etc will be blown away by the winds of doubt, fear negativity!

Understanding the difference between having and worries and concerns. Is very important if you are looking to stay calm whilst feeling anxious. Worries and concerns are both completely different.

Having worries usually involves:

(this way of thinking encourages inactivity and panic)

insecurity-driven—from the inside out

subjective concern over what can go wrong

dealing with fictional inner dialogue (i.e., what-if thinking)

highly emotional, regardless of the circumstance

Having concerns usually involves:

(this way of thinking encourages action)

circumstance-driven—from the outside in

objective concern over a life challenge

dealing with a factual inner dialogue

emotions proportionate to circumstance

I'd rather be concerned than worried, its a alot healthier mentally.

You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you. I am a big believer in the idea that the quality of our thoughts dictate the quality of our lives. Do you have a mind-set that works for you or against you? Take a quiz and find out.
