To locate \sqrt 10 on number line follow the below steps

Step 1 :Let we consider 3 cm=1 unit.

Step 2:  OB^2=OA^2+AB^2

OB^2=3^2+1^2\\\\OB^2=10\\\\OB = \sqrt 10

OA=AB=OC=1 unit

Step 3: By considering O as centre and also as radius draw an arc.

Step 4:  Draw a line which is perpendicular from C of one unit an \sqrt 10=\sqrt 3+1 and name that point as C.

Step 5:  Join the point O and C it forms a triangle by Pythagoras Theorem.

OC=\sqrt 10

Step 6:  Now take the radius as OC, draw an arc touching the number line

And that point will be the number line of \sqrt 10
