How to represent root 3 in number line

Draw a horizontal real number line AC.   At some point B on AC, draw a perpendicular line AD  of length 1.   From point D draw an arc of radius 2 to cut the real number line AC at point E,  on one side of AD.

The length of BD will be sqrt of 3.   Take B as the "0" point.  then  D will be at root 3.
