1. draw AB = 7 cm.

2. produce AB to C such that BC =1cm.

3.draw a semicircle with AC as the diameter.

4. draw a perpendicular to AC at point B . let it cuts the semicircle at D . Hence, BD is root 7

Answer:

1. Draw AB = 7 cm.

2. Extend AB to C such that BC = 1 cm.

3. Bisect AC to get the midpoint O and draw a semicircle with AC as the diameter with O as center.

4. Draw a perpendicular from B to intersect the semicircle at D.

5. BD=√7

6. With B as center and radius = BD, draw an arc intersecting AC at point E.

7. Mark B as the origin( value 0 ) of your new number line.

8. As BD = BE, therefore BE=√7
