You should tell the diary what motivated you to write the importance of cleanliness like an event, etc.
e.g.
Dear diary,
As I was cooking from school, I saw some children throwing papers on road. I felt angry for them but I made them understand by tell importance of cleanliness. After that, me and children helped together in cleaning road by talking pieces of papers.
