Heat the solution and allow it to cool and filter the precipitate of potassium chloride since it only dissolves in hot water. Heat the remaining filtrate until crystals of sodium chloride start forming and give it time to cool in order to form more crystals.

Given that,

Sodium chloride and potassium nitrate

We need to find how to separate sodium chloride and potassium nitrate

Using fractional crystallisation

This process used when solubility of solid elements of mixture and different in the same solvent.

Nacl and KNO₃ both are resolvable in water but solubility of KNO₃ is more.

When we heat the mixture of sodium chloride and potassium nitrate then the potassium nitrate dissolve in hot water and on cool it then we get crystals of NaCl.

Such sodium chloride and potassium nitrate will be separate.

Hence, This is required answer.
