we can separate the mixture of sand and iron fillings by the magnetic separation i.e, by using a magnet to remove iron fillings.

The procedure to separate mixture of sand and iron is by the method of magnetism.The iron fillings being an iron substance gets attracted to the magnet leaving the sand behind. The sand is left behind as it is not a metal substance. Hence by method of magnetism we can separate the mixture of sand and iron fillings.After separation the components of athe mixture will have the same composition and properties as they did not start with.
