Add water to the mixture. ...Filterate is solution of Salt and residue contains sulphur and sand.Evaporate the filterate, water will vapourize leaving behind salt. To the residue containing sulphur andsand add carbon disulphide, this will dissolve sulphur.Filter this solution.

nath123123123: Sulphur is soluble in carbon bisulphide whereas common salt is insoluble in that , so you shake the mixture in carbon bisulphide ( liquid ) all sulphur would dissolve , filter and crystallize/ sublime the filtrate to get sulphur back, the residue would be common salt.

If it has some impurities then we would require water ,we can dissolve it in water , filter and crystallise it to get the common salt back .

They can be separated as follows:

Add water to the mixture. ...

Filterate is solution of Salt and residue contains sulphur and sand.

Evaporate the filterate, water will vapourize leaving behind salt.

To the residue containing sulphur and sandadd carbon disulphide, this will dissolve sulphur.

Filter this solution.
