How to simulate phase separation in LAMMPS?

I would like to simulate phase separation in LAMMPS. I am looking for advice on what kind of 2 atom system and interactions will experience a phase separation.

I tried to use 1 atom system in LAMMPS with a LJ interaction and small initial energy (see below).

Is my setup and result considered phase separation considering the vacuum (black area to be the "void matter")?How can I setup a simulation using 2 atoms which looks like
