Answer:

Democracy involves competition among various political parties. Their competition tends to divide any society. The competition starts mainly in terms of a few existing social divisions, which further can lead social divisions into political divisions and lead to controversies, violence or even disintegration of a country.

North Ireland

North Ireland faced violent and bitter ethnopolitical conflict. Two major sects of Christianity that is the protestants (53 per cent) and Roman Catholics(44 per cent) are represented in the country. The Catholics in the country were represented and nominated by Nationalist parties. They demanded that Northern Ireland should be unified with the Republic of Ireland, a predominantly Catholic country. The Protestants were represented by Unionists who wanted to remain with the UK, which is predominantly protestant. The fight between Nationalist and Unionist led to social conflicts where hundreds of civilians died.

Yugoslavia

The political competition in Yugoslavia along religious and ethnic lines led to the disintegration of Yugoslavia into six independent countries.

social differences kills the ability of better judgement.

if there are two groups, for example religion based, who doesn't agree with the ideologies of each other, it can most probably reduce the chances of them communicating

and a loss of communication can cause huuuge differences.

imagine two groups who hate each other to the core and aren't even ready to listen or understand what the other is telling them.

now add some politics to the scene.

assume there is a party supporting one group and encouraging their ideologies. probably for the benifit of attracting their attention which in most cases is for collecting their vote bank.

and then obviously there would be another party supporting another group.

now in such a case none of the groups would care to judge the party or the representative that has taken their side.

that's why I mentioned in the very first line, it kills the ability of better judgement.

for a particular group, the body supporting their point of view would never be jeopardized. the political party supports the group so they are the good people for that particular group.

this is not what democracy is defined as. people get divided and that eventually results in the country and the land itself getting divided.

and we all know what happened when pakistan was partitioned from india back then.

thousands were killed in riots.

it's ugly and god forbid such a scenario never happen.

have a good day tho
