how to solve 2a+ 2x=18
a+3x=17 by substitution method

a+x=9 Or a=9-x........(1) a+3x=17 ..... (2) Put the value of a in equation 1 We get 9-x+3x=17 Or 9+2x=17 Or 2x=17-9 Or 2x=8 So x= 4 Put the value of x in equation 1 a=9-4 So a = 5
