d/20 + d/30
= 3d/60 + 2d/60
= 5d/60
= d/12
= 3d/60 + 2d/60
= 5d/60
= d/12

first thing you should do when you see any sum of fractions is to take l. c. m
so for given question lcm of 20 and 30 is 60
so now you should divide the lcm by the denominator of d that is d/20+d/30 = d/(60/20) +d/(60/30) =( 20d+30d)/60 = 50d/60 = 5d/6
hence the answer is 5d/3
