we have to follow BODMAS rule in solving this question. here BODMAS means bracket open then divide ,multiply ,add ,and at last subtract.

8 +  \frac{7}{2}  - 9 \\  =  \frac{7}{2}  - 9 + 8 \\  =  \frac{7}{2}  - 1 \\  =  \frac{7 - 2}{2}  \\  =  \frac{5}{2}
