how to solve : Mahesh has 2000 rupee notes 10 less than 500 rupee notes. If the total amount he has is ₹ 15000, find the number of notes of each kind.​

Let the number of 500rupeenotes be 'a'
Therefore number of 2000rupee notes =a-10
Total amount
=500*a+2000*(a-10)
This is given to be 15000rupees
=>500a+2000(a-10)=15000
=> 500a + 2000a -20000=15000
=> 2500a=15000+20000
=> 2500a=35000
=> a= 35000/2500
=> a= 350/25
=> a =14



Number of 500 rupee note
= a
= 14

Number of 2000 rupee note
=a-10
=14-10
=4
