how to solve the equation
4(1/x - 12/y)----(1)
8(1/x - 10/y)---(2)

sreedhar2: are those equations equal to 0 ??
sreedhar2: better to keep pic of the question
pshank: equation (i) and (ii) solve ans: x/y=1/8 but not get the ans
pshank: ok
pshank: question posted
sreedhar2: i saw. but sorry i don't know how to do that. :(

4(1/x-12/y)=0
(1/x-12/y)=0/4
1/x-12y=0.......................................1
8(1/x-10y)=0
1/x-10y=0/8
1/x-10y=0.......................................2
Let 1/x=u and 1/y=v
Now the eq1 and eq2 becomes,
u-12v=0..........................................3
u-10v=0..........................................4
By eq3 - eq4 we get,
u-12v-(u-10v)=0
u-12v-u+10v=0
-2v=0
v=0
By substituting above value in eq3 we get,
u=0
1/x=u and 1/y=v
1/x=0 and 1/y=0
x=0 and y=0
Therefore value of x=0 and y=0
