⇒ 4 = 5x - 6

⇒ 4 + 6 = 5x

⇒ 10 = 5x

⇒ x = 10/5

⇒ x = 2.

Verification : 4 = 5x - 6

             ⇒ 4 = 5 × 2 - 6

             ⇒ 4 = 10 - 6

            ⇒ 4  = 4 Verified.

Points that should be taken in consideration .

1 ). If any number is in ( - ) then when it will change its side then it will become ( + ) and vice-versa.

2 ). If any number is in multiplication then when it will change its side then it will be in division and vice-versa.
