Remember : You cannot add numerator until you make the denominator same.
4 +   \frac{7}{8}
Therefore, we have to make the denominator same as 8 by multiplying 8 in numerator and denominator both.
 \frac{4 \times 8}{8}  +  \frac{7}{8}
 \frac{32}{8}  +  \frac{7}{8}
 \frac{32 + 7}{8}
 \frac{39}{8}
