Let AB be x and BC be also x.

In the first half journey(A to B)...

Speed = 10 m/s

Distance = x

Time taken = Distance/Speed = x/10

In the final half journey (B to C).....

Speed = 15 m/s

Distance = x

Time taken = Distance/Speed = x/15

Total distance in the journey = x+x = 2x

Total time taken in the journey = x/10+x+15 = (3x+2x)/30 = 5x/30 = x/6

Average Speed = Total distance / Total time taken

= 2x/(x/6)

= 2x(6/x)

= 12 m/s.

So, the answer is (a) 12 m/s
