\large\underline{\sf{Solution-}}

Let assume that Sahil present age be 'x' years.

So,

Mother's present age is 3x years.

After 5 years,

Sahil age be x + 5 years

Mother age be 3x + 5 years.

According to statement,

The sum of their ages is 66.

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + 5 + 3x + 5 = 66

\rm :\longmapsto\:4x + 10 = 66

\rm :\longmapsto\:4x  = 66 - 10

\rm :\longmapsto\:4x  = 56

\rm :\longmapsto\:x  = 14

Hence,

Sahil present age = 14 years

Mother present age = 42 years.

Alternative Method :-

Let present age of Sahil be 'x' years

Let present age of Mother be 'y' years.

According to statement,

Mother age is three times of Sahil age

\rm :\implies\:y = 3x -  -  -  - (1)

After 5 years,

Sahil age = x + 5 years

Mother age = y + 5 years

According to statement,

The sum of their ages is 66

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + 5 + y + 5 = 66

\rm :\longmapsto\:x + 5 + 3x + 5 = 66

 \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \red{\bigg \{ \because \: y = 3x\bigg \}}

\rm :\longmapsto\:4x + 10 = 66

\rm :\longmapsto\:4x  = 56

\rm :\longmapsto\:x  =14

On substituting the value of x in equation (1), we get

\rm :\longmapsto\:y = 42

Hence,

Sahil present age = 14 years

Mother present age = 42 years.
