Consider triangles AOC and COD

Angle OAB = Angle OCD (Alternate angles for two parallel lines ABand CD)

Angle ABO = Angle ODC (Alternate angles)

Hence the two triangles AOB and OCD are similar.

So corresponding sides will be proportional.

i.e. \frac{OA}{OC} =\frac{OB}{OD} </p><p>\frac{x+5}{x+3} =\frac{x-1}{x-2}Cross multiply to get</p><p>x^2+3x-10 = x^2+2x-3:</p><p>x =7
