how to solve this question (MNO3 IS THE FORMULA OF NITRATE OF A METAL M. 1-OXIDE OF M, 2-NITRIDE OF M, 3-SULPHATE OF M.

as we know nitrate has oxidation state of -1 so to balance metal M must have oxidation state of +1 ... so now 1) oxide = O2-... means oxide has oxidation state of -2 so it will form M2O means 2 atoms of M are required to balance the charge on oxide ... 2) nitride = N3- ... it has oxidation state of -3 ... so it will form NM3 ...3) sulphate = SO4 2- ... It has oxidation state of -2 so it will form M2SO4 .... hope u understood this and found it helpful ...
