Let son's age be x
father's age =x+26
after 3 years ,
now son's age=x+3 ,
father's age=x+26+3=x+29
x+3=1/3 (x+29)
x+3=(1x+29)/3
3x+9=x+29
2x=20
x=20/2
x=10
So, son's present age is 10 years

HOPE IT'S HELPFUL!!!!

kir2: okkkk
IAMHARSHDAVE: hmm..
kir2: But this question is given with options and is not asked to show the calculation part ..so we should solve in such a manner that it will b time saving and easier...with correct answer
IAMHARSHDAVE: time saving is important but correct answer is more important .. in this answer u got it right but maybe u make a mistake in another question ... so whats the use of saving time if u get wrong answer in some other question ?
kir2: If we would understood a question then there 'll b no mistakes because we 'll be able to know where to two variables and where a single variable
IAMHARSHDAVE: we can't decide where two variables and where one ... its a rule ...if u dont follow u dont get correct answers then ... so instead of doing wrong .. lets approch the right one ...
kir2: okkkk......
IAMHARSHDAVE: hmm
IAMHARSHDAVE: ur also correct
kir2: ☺☺☺☺

hi Arnav ,
let father's age be x
let sons age be y
according to the question
x - y = 26 .....1
and also, three years later
x +3=(y+3)3
x +3= 3y+ 9
x= 3y+6
putting it in .....1
3y+6-y=26
2y=26-6
2y=20
y=10

so sons age is 10 year

hope it helps !!
