Find:

The unknown numbers of the question.

Solution:

1)Let those four numbers in  the box must be x, y ,z and w

2)So according to the question we get the four equations as follows:

x+y = 14----------------(i)

x+z = 15---------------(ii)

z-w = 10--------------(iii)

y+w = 16---------------(iv) (there must be +)

3)If we add eq. (iii) and (iv) we get, y+z = 26

4)Add eq. (i) and (ii) we get,

2x+y+z = 29

2x + 26 =29

x = 3/2

5)Put the value of x in eq.(i), we get,

y = 14-3/2

y = 25/2

6)Again put the value of x in eq.(ii) we get,

z = 15-3/2

z = 27/2

6)now, putting the value of z in eq. (iii) we get,

w = 27/2-10

w = 7/2

The numbers are 3/2, 25/2, 27/2 and 7/2.
