let the height of the tower be h and b be the top pf the tower.and let o be the foot of the tower and b be the top of the tower.so that ob=h

oa = 40m

let the depth of the water tank be x and since it is on top of the tower.let the top of the tank be c so that bc=x

height of tower + water tank = h + x.and let the top of the water tank be c

so that ∠oab = 30° and ∠oac = 45°

i)ob/oa = tan∅

h/40 = tan30°

h/40 = √3

h = 40x√3 = 40x1.732

h = 69.28 m

ii)oc/oa = tan∅

h+x/40 = tan45°

h+x/40 = 1

h+x = 40

we know that h=40√3

40√3 + x = 40

x=40-40√3

x=40(1-√3)

x=40x0.732

x=29.28
