 {x}^{2}   - 6x + 8 = 0
can be written as,

 {x}^{2}  - 4x - 2x + 8 = 0
taking x common in first two terms and -2 in the last two.

x(x - 4) - 2(x - 4) = 0
taking x-4 common

(x - 4)(x - 2) = 0

either x-4 =0 or x-2 =0

therefore,

x=2 or x=4.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

x^2 -6x +8

x^2-4x-2x+8

x(x-4)-2(x-4)

(x-2)(x-4)

that's all
