It will be quite difficult to learn Malayalam. I'm a Malayali myself, and yet, I haven't mastered it. It will be three times as difficult if you're learning it without the aid of a born Malayali or known Malayali. The textbooks are also a bit difficult. In my opinion, Malayalam is the most difficult to learn Indic Language.
