Working rule:

Factorisation by middle term splitting method :

• Check whether the terms of given polynomial are in descending order of the powers of x. If not , then rearrange the terms in descending order of powers of x .

• Check whether the leading coefficient is positive or not . If not , then make it positive by taking – 1 as common. { leading coefficient = coefficient of variable (x) with highest power }

• Split the middle term, such that their product is equal to the product of x² and the constant.

• Take common wherever is possible and finally factorize the polynomial.
