Business analysts, also known as management or business consultants, advise organizations in improving efficiency, finances, and various other aspects of a business.

The key steps to becoming a business analyst are-

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or related degree is usually preferred by organizations for entry-level positions.
  • Gain work experience. Graduates in any discipline can look for entry-level positions in any department of the organization like - business management, human resources, information technology, or related fields and gain work experience needed for a business analyst position. Once the experience is attained, candidates should apply for entry-level business analyst positions.

To be a distinguished BA and increasing chances of success, earning a business analyst certification is important. Certifications carry a lot of weight with the organizations.

For a beginner business analyst with no or 1+ year of business analysis experience, ECBA from IIBA would be the right certification. It is aimed towards individuals entering the BA profession. ECBA not only gives a rock-solid foundation for getting into the BA profession also helps with a global certification.

ECBA is framed rightly to suit the needs of an entry level Business analyst focusing on requirements analysis, modeling, requirements lifecycle management with a good amount of emphasis on modeling concepts and tools.

If you are looking to get certified, it is strongly recommended to undergo proper training from a seasoned BA coach. This will help increase the chances of passing in the very first attempt and in the shortest possible time. Training from an IIBA EEP (Endorsed Education Provider) will also give the much needed PDU’s (Professional Development Units) & guidance in form filling for the exam.
