In a morning assembly, a speech can be started by wishing everyone there.

EXAMPLE:

For example, Good morning respected Principal, teachers and dear friends… then you can start telling about your topic on which you are going to speak. It is advisable to narrate a story or tell a quote which can be related to your topic in the beginning of your speech.

The story should be relevant and you should not go round the bush to convey your ideas and views. Thus, the start of the speech will be splendid.
