Removing surname from caste - This is a subdivision of the first one. Be equal in your mind - The problem with the caste system is that the people are mentally slaves to it. The lower caste unnecessarily gives respect to the upper caste for no apparent reason other than birth. Stop this mentality.

I think that we are not gonna give up our caste system as it is prevalent for more than 1500 years. When something is spoonfed to us since childhood it is impossible that it will go away that easily. Many educated people pretend to be progressive, yet argue in favour of keeping the caste system intact in the garb of preserving tradition, culture and their family morals etc. These is short of hypocrisy as many educated people are willing to maintain it at any extent than what we should accept the from portion of our India who resides in rural area and are not much educated. Thus demolishing caste system is distant dream. Their are three way that we can eliminate this evil thing but it's need mass participation of people from each & every caste. this are some crazy ideas.
1. Inter-caste marriage should be made mandatory.
This idea was pitched by MP from Bihar Hukum Sing Yadav.
He told that to completely abolish casteism in short span is to make inter-caste marriage mandatory. Well it is somewhat ridiculous but yeah it can lead to more mutual understanding and respect between uppercaste and lowercaste. But for sure many caste will not support and it may lead to mass agitation against incumbent government and taking consideration of more than 4000 castes to agree to it is impossible task for any government.
2. Ban writing last name.
'What's in a name?'. Yeah sure but theirs many thing in last name. In India people are curious to know your last name rather your first name. Thus banning writing last name will eventually lead to no oppression to lower-caste as it will become difficult to know his/her caste which is easy just to know it by surnames nowadays and than the time will come when their will be no need of mentioning your caste eventually.
3. Make State Atheism policy like China.
I am not promoting any disbelief in God. But just think if people give up their religion like they did in China, Ireland and Norway. Than obviously without religion the caste system will not survive and if we look statistics of UN on Nation which has near to zero discrimination towards religious minorities and downtrodden communities i.e Norway, Sweden, Ireland etc. are the nation were around 90% are atheist.
Any of this policy will neither be acceptable by uppercaste and even lowercaste. The thing is that we as whole society are failing day by day to recognize ourselves as equal citizen of this great nation irrespective of caste, sect and religion. Most depriving thing is that the youth of the nation often touted as the big resource for future India are more maligned than their previous generation. Sure some section of youths in metro cities are not but definately majority are driven by their caste identity. Thus i don't see any policy or efforts to curb caste system will succeed unless all caste put efforts together.
