Imagine that u have two rational nos. = 3/4  and 1/3 and u have to subtract this-

so, first take LCM of Denominators that is   3 and 4 = 12(LCM of 3 and 4)  

            next multiply the no. 3 and 4 to make it 12 . Like we will multiply the denominator 3 with 4, as we are multiplying the denominator so we have to also multiply 4 with numerator according to the concept. So, other side that is 3/4,  we have to also multiply both denominator and numerator by 3. Now,          3*3/4*3 - 1*4/3*4

               =    9/12 -  4/12
