Basically,Prime number is the number which is only divided by itself and one.
We all know that 1 is divided by each and every number so erase the idea of divided by one.
It is a number which has no dividend other than its own self.
Eg:- 7 is only divided by itself and 1 and 43 is also in this group.
Hope this helps.......

take example of number 5.
this number is only divisible by 1 and 5 itself. is there any other multiple? no.
thus 5 is a prime number.
take 6 as another example.
it is divisible by 1 and 6 itself.we are also able to see that it can be a multiple of 2 and 3.
as 6 is having factors other than 1 and itself, it is not a prime number.but 5 has none other factors than 1 and itself.
so 5 is a prime number.
the numbers that do not have any other factors except 1 and itself are considered as prime numbers.
hope it helps!!!!
